About Kelly's Keepsakes

There really isn't much to tell.   I began a website in 2000.   It was a personal website, in which I wanted to show off my five kids.   I named that website "All My Children".   hahaha   Boy!   Did that website ever get a ton of visitors!   I'm thinking that was because it had the same name as the daytime drama show -- and I do believe that there is also a Kelly in it too.   =D   I hosted my website at Homestead, where I used the website builder tools.   Everything looked fine and dandy from my PC -- and then I saw it from a different PC and Eek!   It looked horrible!   Words were overlapping pictures, etc.   That is when I downloaded the CoffeeCup HTML Editor.   I began "teaching" myself html so my site didn't look like crap.   I used linkware websets and went from there.   I then joined a website competition known as "The Site Fights".   During this time, I met alot of nice people and also got into the website fads such as stamp collecting, quilt square collecting, snowflake collecting, etc.   Then Homestead threw a ratchet in my plans and went from free hosting to pay hosting.   I then switched to Angelfire.   It was alright and by this time, I learned to start a new page, and to copy and paste my content into that page from my html editor, making sure all the images I had in the coding were uploaded to the server at Angelfire.   WooHoo!   I was catching on!   Then, for some reason Angelfire added these pop-ups.   They were so annoying!   Grrr!   I checked into other free hosting sites and found one at freeserverhost.com.   This hosting site was really cool and had a cPanel and everything!   After I began getting into my site then, another ratchet was thrown into my plans.   hahaha   They decided to add this thin banner at the top of every page I uploaded.   I didn't like it because it added a scroll bar to the bottom of all my pages in the iframe.   Thankfully, along the way, I ran into Becky, who is the owner of Mystic Moon Hosting.   Becky's hosting rates were quite reasonable for what I needed, so I decided to host with her.   I registered my own domain, Kelly's Keepsakes, with GoDaddy, set up the server names there, and was ready to go.   After having a finished site for awhile and meeting more people, I decided that I wanted to start making my own graphics.   I began joining pixel site groups through MSN.   These sites were really cool!   They provided outlines and all I had to do was color them, using a graphic program like Paint Shop Pro (or Photo Shop).   My first attempts at pixel painting were horrid!   hahaha   Then, because of graphic abuse, most free membership sites went to pay membership sites.   It was easier to keep track of who has access to the graphics this way.   It is for this reason that I have zero tolerance of people stealing, copying, not giving credit, and not linking back to where they got graphics.   That kind of abuse ruins it for everyone!

Not too long later, I wanted to start my own membership site.   Of course, I can't draw for squat but I began learning how to shade and could "tube" lines, create signature tags, etc. from my memberships and offer those to my "future" members.   It never happened though because my health began declining.   I found myself not being able to sit at the PC for hours like I used to because my back wouldn't allow it.   =(   During the time I was on a "hunt" for why my back hurt so badly and now, my site just kind of sat here.   Instead of doing a member area, I decided I just want to create signature tags, create premades, offer tube packs and whatever else I wanted to add later on, and sell them.   Now, since I started exercising in a "fibromyalgia program", I feel as though I can get my site off the ground.   =D   That is where I'm at right now and hopefully, everything will work out!   =)
